Forest Hills Eastern High School

The site for Eastern High was a pasture. Of its 110 acres, nearly half was flood plain. Project requirements included LEED certification. Unique site features include constructed wetlands for sanitary treatment and storm water detention will be re-used for irrigation. The most prominent building feature is The Great Hall, an elliptical central atrium. Classrooms have adjacent Interactive learning centers for independent and Small-group assignments. There are very few corridors and lockers are centralized.

Overall construction duration is 23 months. With savings accrued from under-budget bidding, Forest Hills added 16 more classrooms and studios, two more locker rooms, and the play fields have been upgraded to varsity level; all without an extension of the completion date.
